History and About the Waverly Ruritan Club
The Waverly Ruritan Club was established in 1939 as a result of a Ruritan National plan called the 101 Program, which entailed having 101 clubs, 101 new members in each district, 101 club meetings with 100% attendance, 101 worthy club projects, and 101 interesting programs at club meetings. Since then, the Waverly Ruritan Club has been dedicated to serving the needs of the citizens of the town of Waverly and the surrounding communities in Sussex County, living out the philosophy of "community people meeting community needs." Some examples of how the Waverly Ruritan Club has lived out this philosophy include completing various construction projects for those in the community with disabilities and other health difficulties, donating money to various community and service organizations, such as the Friends of the Waverly Library, Fisher House, and chemo bag ministry led by Newville Baptist Church, amongst others, and constructing and maintaining a baseball field complex for various youth baseball teams.
